Aliona Hlivco Delivers Guest Lecture on 21st-Century Warfare at King’s College London
Aliona Hlivco, Founder and CEO at St. James’s Foreign Policy Group, delivered a guest lecture for students at King’s College London’s War Studies Department 21st century military strategy, with a focus on Ukraine’s defence industry.
Speaking to MA students in Contemporary Warfare, Aliona examined the evolution of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex from the Second World War to the present, the history of its denuclearisation and Russia’s continuous attempts to undermine the country’s agency in geopolitical, security and defence realms through the means of hybrid warfare. She highlighted the critical role of emerging defence technologies including drone warfare and defence AI, while acknowledging Russia’s advantage in electronic warfare and space technologies.
Aliona also worked with students in a collaborative session aimed at developing policy recommendations for countries like France, Germany, the UK, the Baltic States helping them navigate modern security challenges amidst escalated scenarios, leveraging their geopolitical strength.
